SHAPADU Energy and Engineering Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of diversified Shapadu Corp Sdn Bhd, is bidding for five oil and gas contracts worth RM2.5 billion.
If successful, the contracts will keep the company busy for a few years as well as strengthen its presence in the oil and gas (O&G) industry.
Shapadu group managing director and chief executive Shafiz Shahrani Al-Haj said the company has been listed as one of the main contenders for the projects, to be awarded by both local and foreign companies.
The bids are for hook-up, commissioning and maintenance jobs.

Currently, Shapadu has contracts worth RM700 million in hand. The O&G business represents 80 per cent of its total revenue.
Its other businesses include logistics, property, green technology and security services.
Besides the five O&G tenders, the company has also identified several other projects that it plans to participate in, Shafiz said.
"We are just waiting for these tenders to open," he added.
Shapadu is also looking to expand in other countries, including Vietnam and India, soon.
"We are in preliminary talks with PetroVietnam for a job worth US$80 million (RM249 million)," Shafiz said.
He said the company's vast experience in the industry would give it an advantage in securing projects in hook-up, commissioning and maintenance.
As for India, it will be the company's second project after successfully completing the commissioning of a production and compression platform for British Gas Exploration India Ltd for some US$6 million (RM18.7 million) in 2007.
Shafiz said that talks with parties in India has started.
He stopped short of giving more details, except to say that the company sees huge potential and development in the O&G industry.
Shapadu, which started in 1972, ventured into the O&G industry in 1984.
